About our Founder - Susan J. Irwin

Susan J. Irwin is President and Principal Consultant of Irwin Communications, Inc., a Washington, DC-based consulting and market research firm founded in 1985. For over 20 years, Ms. Irwin has led the company in providing consulting services to hundreds of major corporations worldwide, including satellite operators, telecom carriers, hardware and software manufacturers, broadcasters and end users.

Ms. Irwin is widely published and a frequent speaker at satellite and telecommunications conferences throughout the world. She is Chair of SATCON, the Satellite Application Technology Conference & Expo, a position she has held since its inception in 2002. For six years, SATCON has been the leading edge of video, voice, data, and IP communications solutions for Media & Entertainment, Military & Government, Telcos and Enterprise firms,

Ms. Irwin is also an esteemed member of the Board of Governors for the Pacific Telecommunications Council, the co-founder and Director Emeritus of the Society of Satellite Professionals International, Chair of the Global VSAT Forum's Broadband Multimedia Working Group, an Advisory Board Member of Near Earth LLC, an active consultant for the Corporation of Public Broadcasting and on the Board of Directors of the Arthur C. Clarke Foundation.

Prior to founding Irwin Communications, Ms. Irwin held a number of key positions in the satellite industry. Her satellite career began in 1977 when she was a consultant to the Appalachian Regional Commission on a demonstration project using the ATS6 satellite to provide educational programming in rural areas. g Channel. Then, as a telecommunications policy analyst with NTIA, she managed the Satellite Applications Program, which focused on training programs for developing nations as well as the use of satellite technology for distance education, corporate communications and training.

Subsequent to her tenure at NTIA, Ms. Irwin joined The National Information Utilities Corporation, a company that developed a data distribution system for delivery of educational programming using satellites and FM subcarriers. She was also a member of the start-up team of Private Satellite Network, Inc., a New York-based company that pioneered the satellite business television industry. In 1992, she was inducted into the Teleconference Magazine Hall of Fame for her work in business television.

Together with Arnold Meyers, Susan Irwin founded Link Satellite Connections, LLC, a brokerage for global satellite capacity and service. Link Satellite Connections is a wildly successful mediator between the buyers and sellers of satellite capacity.

Ms. Irwin holds an M.S. degree in Education from San Francisco State University.
